With the last bunches of Muscat of the year, in early September, small, largely raisined, many families in the Axarquia produce their sweet wine, which will help to get through the winter.

Competa wine has always been famous, so that it is usually known as Competa wine or, in case of Cainite rivalry, wine of the land. A terrain that are terraces of slate and scrubland, to give a varnish of terroir to the wine. Grapes trodden, fermented, racked and bottled in a totally natural and artisanal way.

From 3 euros you can get a small bottle.

Some will be surprised by its freshness on the nose and its grace in the mouth. The enigma is solved with simplicity: try an authentic sun-dried Malaga Muscat raisin and you will see that, unlike those sultanas, the fleshy Malaga grape is still alive with that freshness. The palate is light, not cloying, although it helps a lot to be accompanied by some migas, if possible with its coquinas and ajoarriera salad.
