Cómpeta is situated at the foot of the Sierra Almijara looking out towards the Mediterranean sea. It can be reached by mountain roads from two points on the coast, taking only 30 minutes. From Málaga we are only 50 kilometers.
You come across Cómpeta suddenly, like a gift from heaven, all dressed in white and bautiful with the Sierras Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama in the background.

Cómpeta has history going back to the Roman times, it was they who named this place unique in Axarquía, its name means "cruce de caminos" the crossroads and "lugar de encuentro" a meeting place; this name is not in vane as today the village has some 38 distinct nationalities inhabiting its land, a sign that thos who visit often stay.
